132nd Annual Spring Meeting
We welcomed six new active members to the Society. Drs. Anil K. Lalwani, Samuel C. Levine, Michael J. McKenna, William H. Moretz, Franklin M. Rizer, and Samuel H. Selesnick. Two new associate members - Drs. Charles G.Wright and Sabina Wullstein. Two new corresponding members - Drs. Bernard Fraysse and Lars M. Odkvist.
The American Otological Society, Inc., recently completed a very successful 132nd Annual Meeting under the leadership of the President, Dr. Gregory J. Matz. We wish to thank Dr. Matz for an outstanding program.

The members and their guests had a very enjoyable evening at the President’s reception/banquet and dance on Saturday evening.

Our Webmaster, Dr. Franklin M. Rizer, is a new active member of the American Otological Society.

Change of Address: Please notify the Secretary-Treasurer’s Office at 2720 Tartan Way, Springfield, IL 62707, of any change in your address, phone/fax number, or e-mail. If you have recently acquired an e-mail address, please forward to the AOS office so we may update our files.
Membership: The Society is pleased to report a total membership of 268. We continue to encourage members to seek out new qualified candidates who would be worthy of proposal for membership in the Society. The Society is particularly interested in proposing candidates for ACTIVE membership.

Only Active and/or Senior members may propose a candidate for membership. The application for membership for all candidates must be completed, signed and accompanied by the proposal letters and mailed to the Secretary’s Office by September 1, 1999.

If you are in need of additional membership applications, please call the Secretary-Treasurer’s office at (217) 483-6966 and leave you name and address, and we will forward application to you. Secondly, you may e-mail your request for a membership application to segossard@aol.com

133rd Annual Meeting
Mark your calendar now and plan to attend the next American Otological Society’s Annual Meeting to be held in Orlando, Florida, at the Marriott’s Orlando World Center, May 13-14, 2000.

Active Members’ Annual Dues: Enclosed with this newsletter is a statement for the Active members’ dues for 1999-00. We would appreciate payment of your dues in a timely fashion.
American College of Surgeons
Otolaryngology is the most rapidly growing specialty in the American College of Surgeons and the AOS Council would like to encourage members to join the ACS as they represent specialty surgeons very well.

A copy of the minutes of the Annual Meeting at the Marriott’s Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, California, is enclosed.
